On the initiative of the Trapani Diocese, the parish of Erice decided to fully share with all tourists and visitors the beauty of its churches: this is how the "network museum" or "community museum" MEMS (Museum of Erice, the Lord's Mountain) was born. Centuries of art and history are exposed in the churches of the town, a precious itinerary that touches the architectural and artistic jewels of the town.

Buying a ticket you get a map with recommended church tours in the town of Erice: some are free of charge, some others are included in the ticket. You can access each of the churches in the itinerary planned, plotted on the ticket itself: every time you visit a church, it is crossed out from the ticket.
Among these churches some are worth mentioning.
The Royal Cathedral: the church was built by King Frederick III of Aragon in 1312 with material from the temple of Venus Ericina. Tradition has it, however, it had been established way back at the time of Roman Emperor Constantine. Over the centuries, the sacred temple was remodeled and restored several times. The inside actually collapsed in 1853 and was rebuilt in the spectacular neo-Gothic style we see today. Inside the church is also a museum.
St. Martin's Church of was founded, according to tradition, by Roger the Norman (12th century). Annexed to the church are the sixteenth-century courtyard and the Hall of the Purgatory Congregation, established in 1517. In 1682, began the rebuilding of the church, that was completed in 1688. At the end of the eighteenth century the interior was decorated with stucco, frescoes and paintings by Antonio and Vincenzo Manno. The complex has important wooden artifacts and in it were brought more works of art in wood from other sites.
St. Julian's church: according to tradition, its construction was decided by Roger the Norman, but in reality it seems to date back to the early centuries of Christianity. It was rebuilt between 1612 and 1615, the new one was more imposing and with three aisles. In 1927 it was closed due to a partial collapse and reopened only after almost 80 years, in 2005. This church today houses the "Mysteries", the groups of statues representing the last hours of Jesus' earthly life. The adjacent rooms are devoted to "wax sculptures".
St. John's church: it is certainly very old and, according to the inscription on a tombstone, from the time of Roman Emperor Constantine. It was rebuilt in the first half of 1400, then enlarged in 1631. The eastern portal overlooking the panorama, in late Gothic style, is decorated with a sawtooth pattern, and before it rises a fine fan-shaped stairway. The Church retains some of the finest marble sculptures found in Erice, and also collects all the marble and plaster works from other locations.
